OUR HISTORY

"Our primary aim is to provide high quality care for children, meeting the diverse and changing needs of our local community."

Grenfell Preschool has operated since 1964, providing an educational service for children aged from 3 to 5 years.  In 2000, the State Government provided an excellent opportunity for a Long Day Care Centre to be built, adjoining the Preschool.

Grenfell Preschool & Long Day Care Centre was established through a joint strategy between the Department of Community Services (DoCS) and the Department of Family and Community Services (FaCS) – now known as the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).

Grenfell Preschool & Long Day Care Centre opened in June 2001.  In June 2002, the Centre converted most of its Preschool placements to Long Day Care in order to make fees more affordable to the general community.  State funded preschool placements are still available.

The Centre is administered by a volunteer Management Committee.  Our primary aim is to provide high quality care for children, meeting the diverse and changing needs of our local community.

Grenfell is situated in central New South Wales, less than 5 hours drive from Sydney and approximately two hours drive from Canberra, Dubbo, Bathurst and Wagga.

Grenfell is the birthplace of Henry Lawson, one of Australia's most famous poets.  The town celebrates his birth on the Grenfell gold fields by holding the Henry Lawson Festival of Arts on the June long weekend every year.
